Awesome. How'd they do that? Seriously. I'm pretty retarded when it comes to compositing. If anyone here wants to run me through a tutorial on how they think this video was made, hook a brother up.
Very effective. At first I was concerned that it would not hold my interest for the length of the track. It kept changing and growing just enough to keep being fun and exciting. Great work.
excellent. i love this. next time someone tells me they are having difficultly tracking something without markers im going to point them to this video and tell them to shut up. um just kidding. el skid did a great job on this. cheers.

Sorry if you or your friend did this but sticking stencils everywhere in a video is the first thing every compositor try to do. And technically speaking tracking a four corner pin (ie flat card) is a walk in the park compared to 3d tracking.
Generally i'm not posting only to be negative but it has to be said fake stencils and grafitti are like the ipod ads. Old.
Lord knows the technical aspects are ALWAYS what makes for a good video. In my opinion innovations in technique and high-techery are the number one thing that entertains folks. I have changed my mind, this video bites because the post process wasn't more difficult. Sorry, el skid, you will have to live with my rescinded thumbs up. I know you will be crushed.
I join into the thumb up section. I love stencils. even though its right ipod did it all. but urban location is something different. I like it.
Hi all, thanks for the comments! I have to agree, sticking stuff onto flat walls is pretty much a standard thing to do for a compositor. Thing is... I'm not a compositor, I'm a director who had an idea and no budget! As I hope you can see this would have been horribly dull if the camera was static the whole time but as it's moving around and shaky it feels that much more real. It was also a real bitch as there were barely any tracking points. But I was also keen to make the location of the stencils relevant to the lyrics in the song and to make something that wasn't just about clever compositing. The vid was nominated for a CAD and is a finalist in Rushes Soho Shorts so I'm well chuffed with how it's turned out. Thanks again for the comments, and again, 30f I have nothing but respect for compositors everywhere... all I know is, this took a long time!
