Marc Ronson "Stop Me If You've Heard This One" Dir: Scott Lyon

More direct link here - pretty good vid
its funny - the concept is kinda taken from gondry's "marcher a coté de ses pompes" test for Beck (on the dvd), and the actor even looks like gondry. nicely done though - deserves a better song.
erm.... no. doesn't work on a variety of levels. weird casting & inexplicably harrowing expression for the guy - plus why'd they fake him fat getting thinner? shoes moving you is, at most, silly fun, not some opaque socio-psychodrama. plus it really does nothing for the track.
did anyone ever heard a good smiths-cover? this ones here is awful as every other. even though i liked the vid. why they faked him fat getting thinner? - that was an idea, wasn't it progosk? - does everything has to have a reason? - in a musicvideo?
scotts a great director, really on top of his game so i found this a little suprising. the prosthetics are distracting and mask-like, and the video doesn't ever really get going. the dull locations and grading make everything look kinda...... joyless.
check out lyon's kasabian clip for a true mesure of his ability.
answer to my own question - two good smiths-cover came into my mind: schneider tm - there's a light that never qoes out tatu - how soon is now
dingle: I think this is actually a take on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Red Shoes."
convoluted, but possible, k, considering lyon's previous esoterics. the tale sure qualifies as opaque socio-psychodrama. still, to me: mismatch.
Yeah, "inspired by," may be better. One of many takes on the tale.
The Thrills - Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me
i like it, but i wonder if it's the kind of treatment/idea that had been round the block a few times before someone took a bite?
actual title: "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One" feat. Daniel Merriweather Which Supremes song does he cover?
you keep me hanging on
whats with all the hating? i liked this video, and for a pop track to be pure narrative is always refreshing too. now imagine robin thicke doing a concept like that instead of benny boom treatment. exactly.
Agreed. I like this alot.
the jeff buckley one- i know it's over
how did they do this? any answers would be great. the shot of the tennis shoes in the cage seems really wild. puppets?
