So, I know this is a taboo post, but I'm desperate and here in peace and camaraderie and hope that you can advise me on how/what to do.

I have to make a music video for a friends' NY-based band, Alex Delivery. Google 'em... Or go to alexdeliverymusic.com. They'll be touring with Frog Eyes this summer, on a great label (jagjaguwar), getting nice press, reviews are amazing, etc. Listen to the music. They're a good bunch and deserve something special.

Long story short: they hired some friend to shoot a video and it's—to say the least—lacking. It was due five days ago and I'm desperate to help them out. No budget and no time and no fucking clue what to do... The label is getting bitter.

I have some ideas, but since all I do is design book covers, my video ideas—as well as skills—are shitty. There is some amazing work discussed here and I know many of you are pretty fucking hungry and smart. So... Email me if you wish to contribute anything, we can surely collaborate, and this could turn out to be amazing. Or tell me to fuck off and stop bothering.

Taboo- Why is posting about production taboo? I genuinely appreciate that Antville is focused on aesthetic concerns, and remains somewhat pure in that regard, beyond the occasional commisioner gripe. But I have often wished that Antville had some sort of Wheresspot style subsection where you could post asking for production recommendations. Anyone else have thoughts on that?

though the stayingpower of wherespot is admirable, its specific mission was always production info; not so this place.

a real-world-knowledge&resource-exchange side to antville would be cool - but i don't see it happening site-contextually. (nor off-site, for that matter.)

         

I am wondering why this is an ORDEAL for you? You gotta love it or there's no point. My gut feeling is that nothing will happen because you are spending too much time pondering and asking other people what they think about it. Which is likely to produce zero results. But I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm very wrong! Anyway. Good luck. It's all down to you. :)

I definitely wouldn't want to change Antville from its focus on discussing the work itself creatively and dilute it with a bunch of "I need an editor tomorrow for free" sort of posts.

But at least for myself, and I suspect for others, I have a lot of respect for the directors and critics on antville, and when I've needed video production recommends, if they came from an antville subsite/sidebar if would have been really helpful.

         

would love to see someone hack something like that together. seen no proper candidates yet...
