i liked this. had a nice feeling about it... cracking song to boot.
I don't know what is wrong with this, but something small is a touch off. The production value is great, the integration is spot and the song and delivery is quality. I need to watch it again, but maybe it moves at an odd pace, perhaps too expected in the reveals. Maybe not. Maybe I ought to start shutting up.
Out of sync! well the qtime is.
Audio needs shifting 4 frames later,
or
visuals 4 frames earlier, which ever takes your fancy
0 concept. Just a video of the performers in as much half-assed cultural nostalgia as it can fit in.
What this video is saying to me is, "Hi, we really didn't know what to do with our song visually - so we decided to play with our barbie dolls and dress them up in all sorts of outfits that I'm sure you'll love looking at."
Why do bands think they'll be instant classics by referencing and embellishing themselves with sentimental bullshit.
Oh and the Milton Glaser animation was enough to make anybody puke.
didn't the chilipeppers just do this last year? snooze.
I thought it was nice.
nice! really like it musicvideosyay: "0 concept"? eh? Thought the concept was there all the way through. i've got my favourite bits, not too keen on the animated section but the opening is really strong and the ending from where it returns in the 50's and goes back to the zoetrope is really nice, particularly like the scratchy b+w style. more than makes up for anything i wasn't so keen on with the animation.
Musicvideosyay: "didn't know what to do with our song visually" i didn't get that from this, i thought from the start it was really well thought out visually.
You know you're right. They did have a concept that went all the way through - they're unoriginal use of kitsch from the past 50 years.
solid. really enjoyable video. ok its not clever and we've seen similar ideas played out before... but this is done in such an open and unselfconscious way that i can't help but like it. lovely work nick.
