Simple concept with suitable Chromeoesque execution
great track. okay video. i kept waiting for something to happen.
i like the song but jeesus this reminds me of that fucking justice d.a.n.c.e video. Might as well be a coca cola ad.
I like that "fucking justice d.a.n.c.e video" Watched it on tv and it looks great. The directors were showcased at the new directors showcase in cannes and are talented dudes. And no I do not know them. This is a simple idea that just works for Chromeo's vibe as an act, simple as that really.
ho hum, I do not disagree Jesus however, in the world of directing it is often the way that directors take alot of credit for work done by others on a shoot. How many feature films are there that are somewhat saved by amazing production design? Yet it will be the director who gets the overall credit for bringing it all together.
Sure the 'So-Me' illustrations made the Justice video, but it still is the directors that will get credit for bringing it all together. Granted - the dealing out of credit is not always fair. Someone pretty high up in the global world of advertising deemed these Justice 'D-A-N-C-E' directors to be very talented, wether they are or not remains to be seen I guess.
As for Rozan and Schmeltz well we are all allowed to go off-piste once in a while. I still think that this Chromeo video will please its target audience of Chromeo fans if not Jesus himself.
hmmm, i think you under estimate my 'understanding' ability otherwise you wouldnt have wasted a paragraph and a half explaining the principal of the director. There are however a few gaps i wish to elaborate on within your retort. Firstly my question is in the case of So-Me. If he was responsible for the idea and illustrations what are the directors doing that is so great? My second question is do we really have to trust the people 'high up in the global world of advertising to decide what is good and what is not?' Thirdly interesting that rozan and schmeltz lose their zest (for me atleast) as soon as they stop working with household jumble and slow motion. Dont get me wrong i think the video is well put together but i just dont find it very artitisticly challenging or original. Sure music videos are a form of advertising and fashion but shit do we as an audience really always want them to be.
p.s i find this slightly hypocritical: (dazed1, Sunday, 15. July 2007, 15:20 You video geeks need to chill out. You have a forum for music video yet no one is allowed to dislike a video?)
