Maroon 5 - Wake up Call (dir. Jonas Akerlund)
Can a trailer for a bad movie be a good music video?

looks really nice. but really disposable stuff
I have pet peeve about movie trailer concept videos that don't actually feel like movie trailers. This and that My Chemical Romance video are both offenders. What's with the titles? No movie trailer would ever use that many titles.
sex, cars, helicopters, relationships... sorry. i don't get it. The Song is kind of boring. and the video, too. It's like a commercial. Everything looks good... but nothing new. Just more beautiful... sorry i found no words for it.
i saw this somewhere when it was in its rough cut stage and it still looks like crap.
this ain't no beautyfull... looks as it sounds, crappy.
other movie trailer concept videos: Cold War Kids "Hang Me Up To Dry" (dir. The Malloys), My Chemical Romance "I'm Not Okay" (dir. Marc Webb), Queens of the Stone Age "3's & 7's" (dir. Paul Minor), Matt Mays "When the Angels Make Contact" (dir. Drew Lightfoot) (short promo, no mv), as well as the Absolute Pictures ads, Michael Mann's "Lucky Star" ad for Mercedes-Benz starring Benicio Del Toro, Babak Zand Goodarzi's "Trailer" ad for Warwick Castle, and Keir McFarlane's "The Idea" ad for Panasonic.
Don't forget Muse "Nights of Cydonia"
I'm sure Kevathens can name 20 more.
"Knights of Cydonia" is not a trailer, it's a whole (mini) film.
Er, Sabotage?
Not too many movie trailer vids have been made, by my recollection. They're so tongue-in-cheek that they're hard to pull off. They look cheesy and totally bomb if they're not done right.
Here's a v. short sampling of vids that could be/might have been: Air "Le soleil est prés de moi" Brainbug "Nightmare" Rob Zombie "Living Dead Girl" Green Day "Nice Guys Finish Last" Dixie Chicks "Goodbye Earl" Eminem "Without Me" Tenacious D "Wonder Boy"
Movies and music videos could be covered in their own book. (Soundtrack vids, epic vids, movie-remake vids, total rip-offs, drop-dead-awful vids by movie stars, etc..)
Sabotage is a title sequence, Wonder Boy a short film.
Anyway, it's hard not to imagine vids by Spike Jonze, Joseph Kahn, Marcus Nispel, Wayne Isham, and, well, Michael Bay turn into movie trailer vids, among others. When directors write treatments I wonder if it's hard to not think "Two guys, one girl, fighting for their lives, and one huge-ass explosion. Coming soon."
Last point: When it comes to movies and music vids, everything becomes incredibly blurry, which is why I can't remember any more damn trailer vids, even though I know they're out there.
the concept of trailer/promo doesn't bother me that much but god...this is so shit, cheezy, pathetic, sooooo "american". J.A. could have added some sort of humour in it to make it less predictablely bad...but didn't....and...the song is so totally crap... maroon 5? or 5 morons..
