Radar: less than one month left to crack the industry!
- up to the top 200 entries will be seen and judged by real live record label commissioners
- 16 winners get £1,000 cash, or
- record label commissions, and
- mentoring from The Directors Bureau, Black Dog or Draw Pictures
what? not enough?
ok, there's more: all participating directors will be invited to pitch for new paid work on forthcoming Radar collaborations; all tracks are licensed so directors can use their promo for showreels and festivals, hassle-free; even awful entries will get an honest evaluation from the Radar panel; and so on and so forth.
from the 230 people who entered last year’s Radar, four directors already have representation with production companies (like Colonel Blimp), nine directors have made or are making promos for labels, two have made big brand commercials and many directors have been invited to pitch for work as a result of Radar.
so: get work, cash and connections - enter Radar now! it's £10 to enter; if you're a student, it's on us. just remember: your deadline is 7th October 2007. get all the info here: www.radarfestival.com
trailer by Ben Adam, winner of last year's Warp label prize
How much more AMERICAN can you English people get than charging young film makers money to enter into your contest which besides briefly playing to their desires of media glory in fact supplies YOU and your organization with a reason to exist, promotes the brands of your partners who in fact should be able to collectively pony up the 2300 quid that you would otherwise slag off you aspiring applicants. the Shame.
Your listing the accomplishments of the 230 applicants is a wicked ploy and in fact a false advertisement seeing that out of 230 aspiring film makers you'd think that 3 or 4 would in any case experience a modicum of professional success regardless of your festival.
Fuck off Bowie.

Gordan are you connected to the Radar thing? i'm sorry if i upset you .. i didn't mean the post to be personal and touch any nerves. best wishes, David.
Radar Festival is king!
why are people so god damn sensitive? don't apologize for anything bowie
Gordon: Bowie's got a valid point. Radar has always receieved heat from the ville and realistically, has anyone seen/heard of any work from last year's winners?
Aside from the trailer above, I don't think so.....
same ol shit.
Pay to give people your content. It's the same as the music industry types who organise a band comp and charge all the bands to enter under the guise that they will get famous.
Only one person makes money in these things.
wasn't an apology mva, just an attempt to make Gordon feel bad about his flaming me for my social concern.
hello 'villers just a note to say we're hoping to do a deal with labels to let us distribute the many really good videos entered into Radar last year and this time round too. They're copyright obviously, so we can't promote them and it's a big downside for Radar. However, things will change when we get label agreements... also, those stats about directors are a bit old and I probably shouldn't have put them up - it was from a poll just after the last festival, there's probably loads more who are repped and commissioned by now. Directors say being in Radar helped them get results, who knows, but winning/getting shortlisted etc certainly helps get new directors noticed.
- we have to buy the featured tracks from iTunes in order to enter the comp..
