Rich Boy- Let's Get This Paper (Dir: Edwin Decena)
Despite low album sales, this is his 4th single. Easily his best video*. Although alot of hip hop videos use the B&W, this is one of the best examples with its strong cinematography.
*May have offended some Gourley fans.
The following is prefaced with a big ol' IMHO:
The video has a good feel to it. However, I think the letterbox is too tight for this type of promo. It's supposed to feel documentary, in your face, up close and personal but the 2.35 letterbox means that the camera has to stay further away from the cast than with a 1.85 or with the most obvious choice for this clip, a 1.33. Plus, the 2.35 means that the handheld footage appears shakier and less coherent.
Normally a 2.35 letterbox is used to create a more cinematic and epic experience by stretching out the horizontal view of the world to better match landscapes and frame things in opposition to one another. Using a 2.35 and then shooting centered performance is kind of a waste and in this case weakens the videos primary strength - it's real life, docu feel.
