kino - any way to head off these spammers, other than manual deletion?
a couple of months ago, tobi implemented an automatic check in the username creation routine: the ip and the mail address entered are checked against public blacklists - that prevents a lot of spam, especially the automated one.
i see ways we could make posting some spam comments more difficult, but that would be much more work and wouldn't wipe out spam completely, either.
for me, it's very important that anti-spam measures don't prevent legitimate comments, ie: no false positives, so akismet doesn't seem to be an option.
yup; seems not to be a huge problem at the moment anyway.
