Mark Ronson - Just (Dir: Jim Canty)

Yes. Now it works... "and why don't you try writing your own songs?" i don't think its funny. who the F... is "Mark Ronson". And i really like the Director Jim Canty and the video he did for Kaiser Chiefs... but this video is just crap. (imho)
erm... think i'll stick with nick frew's previous vid for this, thx.
that was okay. but what's with the subtitles in music videos. i have yet to see it pulled off successfully
I like it. The one with the animated graffiti was better I think.
MVA the whole bit about the subtitles is related to the fact that the entire video is made in response to the original video (dir. Jamie Thraves) for the original Radiohead track. Its all obviously very tongue in cheek which seems like a rather appropriate concept.

I know Mark Ronson is suppose to be the big cheese or something like that, however; I'm pretty unimpressed by a rather uninspired cover of a good song. Wait didn't he also ruin a Smiths track???
mva... now I like to remain cordial on this website because it has enough trolls as it is but c'mon...! Please... go and watch the original video for Just... and look at how it uses subtitles. It's only one of the best videos ever made, and it's use of subtitles is brilliant.
i think I would find great pleasure in doing a video for a Radiohead cover...there is fun humor in it. I'd love to introduce myself as the director who is one person removed from doing a video for Radiohead.
But seriously. Why two videos? Especially for a cover.
jamie thraves' original for just - given it's ref'd...
oh, and: adam's almost prescient comment (back in feb '06)...
hsi mov already dead.
mva: One of the best videos of 2005 made extensive use of subtitles: Man Man - 10lb Moustache (dir. Adam Carrigan)
Yeah, it's funny this one. Covering tracks is acceptable - I rather like this Ronson version.
But covering video is more prickly. Canty's isn't badly filmed or put together but no amount of irony or cap-doffing is going to make it anything other than a cheap cream-off of someone else's (Thraves') idea.
hsi mov already dead.
It works. You have to copy and paste the link instead of just clicking.
It's sad that this video works only with the "its funny" thing. Because i don't think it's funny. The Band Covers a song... and in the video you see a joke about that. Thats kinda funny... but its also true. for me, thats not funny... its sad.
did you watch "i am legend"... in one scene will smith is reading the part from a "shreck" dvd. It's kinda funny, too. But its also sad. Becouse the words fits also into the film "i am legend". And than you see that the storyies... caming from hollywood or disney are all the same. It doesn't matter if the "donkey say something to shreck" or "will smith is saying something to the woman in the film".... it fits.
this video and also the "i am legend" film makes fun of "everything is compatible".
We are living in world where nothing is realy new... so what should we do??? "hmmm.. lets copy some old ideas and change a bit so it will be funny"
This is sad.
I'd like to see Jim Canty get some feature work.
i actually really like the cover (at least i did about 6 months ago, when painfully trendy people such as myself first heard it..) and the video at least follows on with the concept: yeah it's a bit poppy, but so's the tune, and has some nice touches.
what i don't get is the shitty shots of his name on the drumkit - they even say it's his video in the subtitles - what, afraid no-one knows who you are eh ronson? now that's sad.
