Erykah Badu, "Honey" (dir. Chris Robinson)
Some behind the scenes info here.
D.A.N.C.E as told by Chris Robinson
The humor in the execution more than makes for the recycled concept.
For those missing the recent precedent, D.A.N.C.E was sort of a sequel to promo piece by the same team.
And lets not forget...
The clip is "presently unavailable" or something like that...

reckon the D.A.N.C.E. comparisons are missing the point... this is a different fish.
yeah the idea's not totally new (classic album covers being a fairly heavily used motif), but at least thoroughyl done over, plus it's all genuinely great & seminal albums. only let down in my book is how ropey the vfx is... why go to all that trouble and then fuck up the comping?
hey y'all homage in the middle is a nice touch too.
Nope! Y'all got it wrong. This video concept was heisted from rapper/singer K-OS’ “Heaven Only Knows” music video... from like 4-5 yrs ago....
I wonder if Erykah's teeth hurt? From biting so hard!
Tsk, tsk… very un-old-skool-hip-hop-like... biting like that Erykah.
Oh Yeah, I almost forgot about that video.
Erykah does it better, hands down. She owns the record sleeve vid now.
Erykah has always been such a unique artist... it's unfortunate that this time out she took the pedestrian route and decided to produce an unoriginal idea. It would've been nice to see her carry on her tradition of not doing things that have been done before. And I would question if it's better than the K-OS vid. The comp work is suspect and the gimmick wears pretty thin by the half way mark and they probably had 10 X the budget.
