that seriously sucks. I use that to source a ton of videos for ALT tv (NZ music channel). lots of hard to find videos live on there. what are the alternatives?

I've had two accounts removed from Blip and two from Vimeo, even though most of the videos were posted with the consent of the authors. So, the only solution is to pay an affordable hosting plan. Donation and/or ads may help you.
dek: the only solution for non-authors, you mean. amirite in thinking vimeo's the place of choice for those publishing their own videos? (some more low-down on the story. oh, and: folks are mentioning veoh as another alternative - short of some bittorrent flavour e.g. azureus/vuze.)

The clip compression on Veoh is sometimes sloppy (dependent on the poster)
