Michael & Janet Jackson- Scream (Dir: Mark Romanek)
.........
Oh my bad, this Lil Mama feat Chris Brown (& T-Pain)- Shawty Get Loose
.......
Oh. (Dir: R. Malcolm Jones)
yet another study in rip-off
it's an homage, innit? (some antacids, matey?)
not a good one tho
well, as long as 'get it in control/ like janet jack' legitimizes rip offs, then this is an homage alright.
ps: but, alas, wut do i no about not-so-silent nods to oldies but oldies, re-packaged as homages.
wow, what a great rap/pop song. Seriously. Is she a great rapper or am I out of touch?
The video isn't breaking any ground but it's fun to watch. I bet it looks great on TV. And again, Lil Mama is charismatic as hell.
i know i shouldn't care... but that is piss-poor. all that money and nowhere to go. and frankly if it's meant as a homage that only makes it worse; doesn't hold a candle to the original. which in itself was a massive spunking of money, but at least a decent video at the end of it.
and captainmarc, not to accuse you of being out of touch, i don't know you, but no she's not a great rapper. please point out to me one thing of worth she says in the whole song? one decent/interesting rhyme?
and for fucks sake, 'shawty'??? bad enough calling every woman shorty, now they can't even spell.
sorry, ranting over.
loz, please qualify 'they.'
er... you know, them, over there, those guys...
okay that was a bit vague, what i meant was something witty and well thought out about the decline of the English language, especially as perpetrated by mainstream hip-hop/r'n'b acts, eg nelly's 'hot in herre'.
"i'm well street so i can't spell an' ting innit bra, yeah shawty gon bam bam" etcetera.
spelling. it matters.
:)) articulate and adamant but not at all streetwise. however, i bear with you, bro'.
thanks dude. i dunno, i've got nothing against street talk, IN THE STREET, hell, i indulge in it a fair wack myself... but there's something about deliberate misspellings in song titles that really get my goat.
