Stipe told the Associated Press last month, "The music video is a dead medium so I didn't want to go to that industry to create a piece." erm... FAIL?
you´re right, maybe stipe is wrong, because beyond all opinions and discussions, a lot of people, like me for example, have learned and love new music through videos, even if those are cheap, weak, great or so-so, sometimes we have to think twice before speak aloud.

maybe it's just my pathological dislike of Stripes, and all his suedo-intellectual pontificating, but doesn't this just feel like one long wankjob? sure it's nice animation, really nicely done... but it's got no soul. i kept on waiting for it to cut and go to packshot.
we all lose faith in the medium from time to time. it's strange to hear a comment like that from Stipe considering REM has had pretty good luck as far as music videos go
as for this one, its worth a look and its not totally soulless.
