Hype Warhol? Get off it. Such wasted potential here. A killer track, a solid set of performers, a budget and a half, and what we see is poorly edited space invader donkey kong bullshit with people rapping to the camera.

Effects wise the 8bit rendering of each artist is a plugin at best and doesn't hold at all.

Hype isn't even listening to the track. It's such a slow haunt and he films guys wigging out. The only thing this is missing is them throwing money at the lens and we'd be pure 90's. Junk.

         

Gonna have to swim upstream here - I think this is pretty good. The slight 3D feel on the old 8-bit arcades is cool and trippy. It's true, the performance sections (and the low-skillz digi-effect on the artists) are the weakest element in the vid but the performers still make it worth watching. Overall, I enjoyed the promo but it did start to feel a touch overlong towards the last 30 secs.

I totally agree Kal. Nothing drives people crazy here like effects that look "off the shelf", but I really enjoyed this. It was nicely paced, the graphics really worked for me, and it felt extremely bold. I get excited thinking that Hype "Warhol" is still tinkering with his style 15 years into his career.

         

No offense, but are you fucking kidding me? Is evevyone on every level kidding me and my balls, right down to budget?

This is torture, hype should be forcibly retired.

I am with those that liked this clip. Anyone that follows this stuff much knows that i am often critical of His Royal Hypeness, but this one is pretty entertaining.

This is a remix, with a very low budget. Remember the original video, the one that looked like a page from lastnightsparty[dot]com? They spent a good chunk of change on that one so it is not very surprising that the remix was done on the cheap.

Yes, the Hype Warhol credit is goofy. I guess the 8-bit rendering is not cutting edge, but hard to tell from the grainy clip I watched. Once again, I am gonna say 'forest for the trees,' guys. The quality of an effect or whether it has been done before is not the most important criteria to music video enjoyment for most people, especially those not reading antville (aka 'Rendering and Motion-graphics Illustrated).

This clip feels kind of tossed together and casual, not a necessarily a bad thing for a casual, tossed together remix track.

         

Do we really need another 80's theme video? retro graphics and video games are soo...2004. We're in the 21st century, people. Then again, pushing the medium forward is in the least of hype william's current interests. He peaked a decade ago, now he's just phoning it in.

         

I get suspicious of people who claim that certain concepts or styles are somehow before or behind the times. If it works with the track and looks cool, then who really cares? I guess what I'm really trying to say is that I'm prepared to defend this video to the death.

         

meh. it's not that the concept's out-dated, it's just lazily executed - it looks like something banged out of a teenage bedroom on the cheap for a unknown grime band... and not in a good way... and i usually like Hype. i mean, i'm all for tossed together and casual, but this is tossed together and crap. dancing toilet sign girls? please.

plus, goofy or not the 'Hype Warhol' is just bizarre. not to mention ego-fucking-tastic.
