Ting Tings "Be The One" Dir: Keith Schofield

this works kinda well, but reminds me a lot of this:
40mb MPG - www.zshare.net
Nothing happens here. as scooper said, very derivative of Dougal's LCD, but without any of the invention or wit. More recently Rian Johnsons Mountain Goats (corrected by hiconcept) was technically much more interesting.
Keith seems to be on a reverse roll, Supergrass & BPA - amazing, but since then, so many mediocre/bad jobs, this, CSS and Ladyhawke too much work not enough time to think of more amazing ideas, come on Keith you are better than this.
@ criticallous It's more conceptually close to vogel HP commercials than dougal's lcd. I think some back projections are real while others ala infinite zoom use trackers points.
@ ai, yep you're right it has some of that too.
is it possible to find a version with even shittier compression? Maybe we could pull it off of youtube, run it through a Pixelvision camera and then reupload it? C'mon kids, it's not fair to judge the video on this rough ass youtube version. (and the zshare version is not much better).
I think this video is really stylish and fun. It fits the laid back style of the track perfectly. Does every video need to be a showcase for the director? i think it does a great job of adding ornamentation to a sweet performance. Well done.
Rian Johnson's Mountain Goats video is the one pulling out through TVs, that one is Andy Bruntel's.
(in and out, hico. goats' woke up new mov. ever a minor masterpiece.)
"Keith Schofield: nah. Cinematic craftsmanship is overrated. I'd rather watch a funny, compelling video shot on DV then some boring 35mm technocrane performance video." vm article
I don't think that's what Keith was trying to say. This isn't a 35mm technocrane performance video. It may not be the same thrill ride as Supergrass but it's far from a straight up performance piece. Wasn't Supergrass a 35mm performance video?
I think almost everyone would agree that the best possible video would have a killer concept and a really great look to match. With today's budgets, you can really only choose one or the other. Sometimes though, the budget can't even completely cover one of these choices adequately. I would wager that this video could have used an extra day of shooting or another 20k.
Just watched the quicktime - it's really solid. Keith seems to be gaining momentum even as he belts these out. Very enjoyable, plus this looks like expertly handled s16 not 35. Who cares what he said in the past - he's not a politician. Maybe he ran out of youtube ideas for a week.
Didnt mind this. Dougal wilson reference etc... surely he knew everyone would compare it to the lcd soundsystem video. It seems cheap in comparison... and maybe it was. I would say solid work... but as with most of schofields work recently... not amazing. Like he is just going through the paces... and maybe he is? Seems like the director of choice at the moment. Wonder how long that will last? Wonder who he will do a video for next week?
kinda slight.
Thanks for the woke up new MOV link, Prog...rad.
In regards to this thread, in the post apocalyptic landscape Keith Schofield is like the one dude living the dream right now, don't fuck it up for him assholes.
Kidding, but this is pretty good and good for him in general. He's doing high profile indie stuff, and deserves it unlike certain other generic dickbag directors still plugging away at it aimlessly with poorly composed beauty lighting hoping to make it big. I still refer to this phenomenon as "fondling the corpse." Keith is doing his best to do interesting shit, he'll nail it eventually.
