Common ft. Pharrell - Universal Mind Control (Dir: Hype Williams)
apart form the robot, utterly forgettable.
and even that wears thin pretty quick.
also, is anyone else freaked out by hype's obsession with writing hype all over his hype videos hype? hype? hype.
i'm very disappointed in this video. this concept went nowhere. I'm losing faith in Hype now. I think they mo-cap pharrel for the robot performance. * * I just realized the robot's body is Pharrell. Video now get one point.
This video fucking sucks, and so does common.
Hype peaked in 1998, that was ten years ago.
His best work is behind him.
"Hype peaked in 1998, that was 10 years ago"
Same goes for Common so I guess its a good pairing
honestly, if u look aty it from a perspective that is hype's desire to just make videos based to his own taste and not built upon besting the next great video...this video is one of his best. Just for the shear fact that he creates videos that just look different from anything else HE did, but still are so definitively hype creations..same skeleton, different skins.. i think he wants everyone to see it as a calling card.
er, it's all very well making videos in a style that HE hasn't done before, but honestly, the compu-graphics/numbers/architectural wankery in here... seen before much? yep. and seen much better? yep.
someone said it already - graphics look like a clip art download. and minus the graphics, what's really left?
let-down, huh, true_fi?
I know what I said. This video is still better than the orginal video. I said earlier we dont know the outcome of the full video. I'm disappointed it didnt built up on the 35 seconds we all saw. The video was just warpholes. Warpholes.
I still love the song. I saw Common performed last week with N.E.R.D. They both have great stage presence.
