Dido - Don't Believe In Love (Dir. Ben AL)

The new album from Dido, Safe Trip Home will be released by Sony on November 4, 2008. Youtube
Another "Knoll Light Factory" video. There's an abuse of this effect these days instead of playing with the lenses. A bit boring for my taste.
I know its not about techniques and that people "borrow" from others continually and that goes on to fuel art like one great big retractable pencil, BUT. this is a favourite film of mine that's been plundered here.....and for Dido?
cool idea, but a bit messily executed? it probably looked better on paper.
nice very intimate, very crafty
This is not the directors cut. The original video was rejected then re-edited with new performance material shot by another director.
i'm sure a&l were very pleased about that... labels fucking suck
@antiqueville
very interesting this 'downside up' excerpt. excellent. was it the first time they've used that? however, i've seen that hothead crane shot used in so many recent films that i really don't think the makers of dido's can be held accountable for plundering, as you put it. it's not like those videos ripping off jodorowsky.
I agree with legion that this effect has been used so many times now that I don't think anyone can claim to be the 'owner' of it.
This video has a really nice tone/mood to it and some really fucking stunning photography.
I would really love to see the directors cut because in my opinion those performance bits break up what I'm sure was a beautifully thought out and put together peice. It would have been nice to see the jigsaw put together like the directors intended. Maybe in the original cut there was a sense of progression which is missing here too. There's no real beginning middle and end here.
But those are minor gripes that I am sure are a result of this re-edit. It's still an absolutely stunning piece. Great pop video full stop.
I'll tolerate a lot of things but being bored is not one of them... Interesting and well executed on the technical front but damn that was painful to get through.
