The Hours- See The Light dir. Tony Kaye
Interesting collaboration creates pretentious results. Directed by Tony Kaye, Art Directed by Damien Hurst, Starring Sienna Miller.
wank
I thought this was pretty bold, my compliments to the band and commissioner.
wanksville
Gee, a household name director and the world's most famous artist want to shoot your video with an A-list actress. Will your label let you say no?
I liked it.
It was well made, affecting, and the piece seemed to go hand in hand with the song. This is interesting work in a field where an awful lot of work lacks anything of interest.
K
pretentious, indeed
I can't imagine eviscerated cows being a hot marketing tool for the bands demographic. Yes its a dream team but what they shot will likely alienate most fans. Thats pretty cool in my book.
Has there ever been a greater waste of carbon bonds than Sienna Miller?
Jason, from a marketing perspective, this is a dream. how many blogs are going to post this next week just because it has Miller in it? Or because Hirst was involved? Or because Kaye shot it? A small indie-band with a 7 (!) minute single could do worse...
This is pretty interesting...Tony Kaye always does boldness and it counts for something, the only problem is Hirst. Then again that's a matter of opinion.
GEEZ..& people bitch about simon's posts.
Luke warm song from MOR band with extended ham fisted video narrative & "disturbing" imagery. Even a contemporary B actress!
Yawn...
Was this neo-art excursion supposed to be confrontational in some way? Is it meant to further someones career or connect to some region of the populace? Was that HEAVY?
This thing is devoid of any of the shades of nuance or subtlety that really define these things. Everyone involved with this mundane piece is guilty of tediously hacknied work & making gross assumptions about the viewers time, attention or interest in this oh so contemporary urban "angst" vision.
I think I'll see what Beyonce is up to.
P.S. American History X was really nothing more than a glorified after school special. I could never figure out what an English guy was doing making a film about American skinheads anyway.
I usually try to avoid negative comments, but seriously, that was painful to watch, Sienna whatever does her job, the art direction looks fine, but the idea???
Anyone seen Tony Kaye's Documentary of the Abortion debate? nasayers consider it required viewing when terming if someone is accomplished at their job or not. Dismissal on aesthetic grounds is easy, embracing something for it's virtues seems to be unfashionable or for lack of a better term, "uncool". I'm speaking of few videos that reward defending, not the sort of assembly line stuff that occasionally employing artistic membership at the service of empty commercial disguise. Every video has something to offer, rejection or acceptance rests atop of the viewer.
I actually liked the video. I mean sure, I do think there was one too many shots of Sienna crying and screaming, she can't act, but few shots are poignants. I think this vid shows, 1st how cruel it is for animals to be killed to make bags and coats, 2nd drug addiction, but I don't see how they relate to one another?
lake on fire? goes hand in hand with palindromes
Don't worry bout by Sienna folks, probably sufferin from an OD of formaldehyde because Damien Hurst got carried away with his 'Art' Direction
Which makes me ask the question If it is "cruel for animals to be killed to make bags and coats", how come Damien is on the job?
After all His track record shows, he's a dab hand wiv t'auld chainsaw, cutting sharks cows n' sheep up, and no stranger to packaging the corpses in glass cases for the public to gawk at.
Whilst others may pontificate on his God like inordinate artistic skills! All well n good, but it hardly seems to me to be recommendation for his input into t'animal anti cruelty equation
another example of the Kool-Aid going around. this vid sucks and you all damn well know if it was so no-name director and band there'd be nothing but hate
I also don’t like to be negative but ….it really sucks….it made me sick as I was watching it during my lunch break…the only reason to make vid like this seems to win “AntVille Monthly Best Vid Award” :)
wow...what a surprise this video is...who would think of a scene where the mental patient tears up her hospital room? And close up shots of her bloodshot eyes and the soundless scream. And you know that mental patients always end up crawling on the floor and curling up in the fetal position. Utter predictability.
should have had her dressed like normal person at the beginning of the video. Have some sort of lead up to the hospital gown.
this video feels like a first year film student film. only shot nicer.
where's the link to tracey emin's
