Craig David "Insomnia" dir. Sarah Chatfield

Quicktime (via promonews)
What have I learned?
a. Craig David can only pull around $60k USD for a video nowadays
b. $60k isn't enough to shoot on film in a global recession.
c. Sarah Chatfield is creative but Mr. David, two girls, and a light board do not a great video make.

video sucks, indeed, but what's global recession?
yeah. feels empty. i think it's part of your style though, as i've noticed that running through all of your work.
the era of digiglitch is upon us...
It's a neat effect, but this is a pretty somber affair.
It feel pretty weird that 'Born to Do It' was 8 years ago already.
Hype gets bagged on a lot these days but I do believe that this whole digi-glitchTM thing was popularized by him.
pleasantly reminiscing Ah yes, he's still an innovative soul and has a lot of influence on the industry.
Sure, the lower budgets have damaged his ability to completely 'WOW' but I'm still always excited to check out his latest offering and it's not often that he really disappoints.

This was shot on film.
I think you're giving Kanye too much credit..This was started by Cher like 10 years ago and can be found in songs ever since (just talking about sound not video)
kalstark: Did Hype start that? I can't remember who started this trend.. Here's something from 2000..
I'm actually not sure if Hype could be said to be the father of the technique. Mostly, I'm referencing him here because the effect seems to have become quite popular since he began playing with distorting the image in a 'glitch' fashion in Kanye's performance sections of 'Stronger' and to a greater extent in 'Can't Tell Me Nothing'.

P.S. - @ prairie oysters - Are you sure it's film? Even watching it as a Quicktime the solo shots of the lead girl seem focus-soft and low-res in that distinctly HD kinda way. Sure, I can't know for certain watching the video online but it doesn't look like film to me. If you have hard information do you know if it was shot on 16mm?
