Question: how did they do some of the effects? Cause some shots look like cheesy green screen; others have a pirate ship exploding. File footage? It's pretty impressive.

And: was the artist in on the joke? Or the director for that matter?

Apparently, ARRA and the 3rd Kingdom is a manga concept developed by Chris Dane Owens and Robert Short. Based on the Chis Owens song "Shine" the story follows the adventures of Jade and Arra as they fight to discover the truth about their realm and the 3 Witches that rule it.

This is amazing. I actually think that everyone involved thought that they were making a masterpiece. Which makes it so much better than if it was a pastiche made by some knowing brooklynite.

Oh, and 30f- he is American btw.

Now that is an example of a sense of humor so sophisticated as to be almost otherworldly. Speechless... (except to say - the most interesting thing about this whole thing is the fact that it must have taken quite a lot of work and cash to pull off) :)

P.P.S. - just did some cursory research - Short won the make-up Oscar for Beetlejuice and they were indeed serious when making the video.

         

All that gettyimages stock would be be pretty expensive if they didn't have a hookup. Do they offer some discount for web-only distribution?
