The Gaslight Anthem "59 Sound" Dir: Kevin J Custer
A recent video I Directed and Edited for TGA. New to the forum so I thought I'd introduce myself with a vid. Enjoy, and always appreciate feedback.
Video: One day shoot, HPX/HVX, FCP
The Gaslight Anthem - 59 Sound from Kevin J Custer on Vimeo.
not bad man, my two cents: Pros- Looks great, really nicely shot, some interesting compostions. Nice balance of narrative and performance
Cons - would have liked to have seen some connective setup to tie the performance with the narrative, something as simple as having the kid walk thru the house while the band plays.
- Didnt really dig the freeze shot and the guy that appears in the shot. The backgrounds on the band performance were really flat, the colored walls needed something to break them up.
anyway man, decent vid.... Impressive that this was a one day shoot
Good video, did you use a 35mm adapter on the HPX?
p.s.I'm not trying to be a dick, but are you the same Kevin Custer who directed this?
c-dub: thanks man. and interestingly enough i had planned on walking the boy through the house to get to the back yard. Alas...time was not on our side!
true: yep, one and the same. jones and juelz walked this onto 106 and park yesterday as a little christmas special. this video was shot entirely on green screen and in 4 hours. was meant to be an online viral only - but...
It's really a testament to clever editing / compositing. I "built" the living roon using separate elements: fireplace, skullgang logo over fireplace, tree with lights that change color, etc..all woven together with false, but uniform light so it looks like a real environment. Exterior is straight forward - snow and background.
Did you not like it..lol??!!
Oh and yes on the 35 adapter for TGA; not on the HPX but on the HVX.
Rock.
The video was interesting. Pretty simple set-ups.It all comes down to the song for me. I enjoyed the Jim Jones one more than the Santana one.
