Besides the comparisons that have been made on the web between Yannick Saillet &Co's original version and Justice's DANCE Theres also summit to be said of the fact that Alizee riding a Solex in the David Rubato/Rebecca Zlotowski video, makes it look more than a little, like Dougal Wilson's Bat For Lashes Whats a girl to do clip The lyrics to Fifty-Sixty are possibly inspired by the real-life biography of Edie Sedgwick tell, in personal and metaphorical manner, the story of a young model under the tutelage of Andy Warhol, The lyrics end with the reiteration " Candide believes everything Andy, Andy told her",
Edie Sedgwick The Ciao Manhattan Tapes
i really love alizée, she's such a perfect pop-construct, but this song is so cheap & poor, that it's hard to get an idea of the video. it's well done, i guess ...
It seems fine to me, and lyrically far better pop than the Mademoiselle Juliette single also from the Psychédélices album, the first one to be made without her former mentor, Mylène Farmer.
I reckon Its unrealistic to expect her to continually pump out dope like Moi... Lolita and J'en ai Marre! 'Mean like shes twenty four now!
The lyrics seem a fair portrait of Edie who despite the damage of her barbiturate dependency was quite articulate in describing the life and times of Warhol's 'factory' and the NY fashion scene. The Yannick Saillet etc clip owes a fair bit also, I suspect to the 'The Ciao Manhattan Tapes' more than 'DANCE'
Don't know why ur so down on it spreech! Ain't u the fella that likes ur dope trashy? Don't think anything comes closer to trashy than Warhol He was a master
