Peter, Bjorn, & John "Nothing To Worry About" (Dir: Andreas + Filip Nilsson)
epic pompadour action

birds! turn that autoplay off!
shit, sorry about the autoplay. Thanks for the heads up, Coach Prog.
So japanese and so cool
since myspc actually overrides embed pref's if the original poster has autoplay in his settings, in cases like this go for u2b (and the stealthy u2b .mp4).
class
in the words of my favorite Jew: pretteh pretteh good. prettehhhh
greatness, could see this getting "buzz."
erm, why does this strike me as a minidoc that someone (filip?) shot, and that someone else then tacked this track onto, never mind that there's not much of a connect, not to mention an ill-fitting edit? buzz? pro'lly. cool, class, greatness - what?
I agree with progosk... again. It has a definite youtube doco feel. Infact I have seen a doco about gangs in japan that dress as their favorite stereotype and then go into the park to hangout / dance. Doesn't really feel like it does the song any favors. Perhaps it was more of an excuse for Andreas and Filip to go on a holiday? If this is the case then I congratulate them.
Who cares if its based on something real? Or is simply something found and shot to go along with the song. I've seen the Japanese theme gangs hanging out in the park before as well but still found this clip refreshing, well edited and interesting to watch and worked with the song. The idea of blurring reality with some staged / slightly directed or steered events for a music clip is undoubtably a smart way to deal with ever shrinking budgets. Its similar to a readymade art work.. As with the recent empire of the sun video, spending some of the budget and traveling to a particular location/ place / thing to shoot seems to be an answer to little-mid budgets as well.
Sorry wing it just personally didn't inspire me. As I said I've seen it before and it just reminded me of a youtube doco or perhaps something I would see in a vice magazine dvd. Regardless of circumstance or edit etc. I just didn't find this video either refreshing or interesting.
I actually think it would have been better if it operated more like a documentary and thus we saw more insight into the people / characters. I like the start but 1/3 of the way through it becomes monotonous and boring.
Thanks for the personal apology kansas. Sorry to note that your experiences on youtube and readership of vice magazine have limited your enjoyment of this one.
progosk hit it on the button. altho i don't fault anyone's opinion otherwise because it is so so hard to distinguish the true quality of a vid when the track is irresistible. and fyi the track went out for 10k so i would say the directors laughed all the way to japan.
leningrad cowboys do what?
What's with the backlash? I'd say that this stuff has clearly been shot for a music video, particularly the hair dressing and gang tableau shots. The dancing in the park feels like it could of been inspired by found footage but it's professionally shot and the dancers are in sync with the music (for the most part). The edit seems fine to me except for the fight in the middle which is way underdeveloped and has that regrettable punch effect. I don't get all this laughing to Japan shit, if they made a good video who cares if they got to fly to japan?
i don't know if you guys heard, but budgets are really low these days. i wish more videos did the documentary thing.
personally, i think if the end result is interesting (and this is great, i think) then why worry about the process? the idea is the thing.
thats the thing 'scudmore'. Even though the idea is good I don't think the end result is interesting.
it's not a question of budget, i think this has to do with quality. OTC it seems like you're justifying the video's shortcomings...why? if you start there then you should justify the faults of every video posted on this site. i kept waiting for something to happen or some semblance of a sync and/or narrative to come together and when it didn't i got disappointed. so when you guys say something is good despite it's flaws i wonder if it is only because the track is good?
or maybe some people think its cool or humorous because its out of context?
in case you're curious, these guys are called the yoyogi rockabillies.
