The Golden Kittens Perform "Alas, Babylon Twist" Live on "The Lance Gortar Show" (dir. Richard Brickhouse)
"Alas, Babylon Twist" captured GKmania as it was happening, and more than four decades later, it remains a peerlessly zesty rock 'n' roll fable. Director Richard Brickhouse's jump cuts now seem exhilarating as Fred Durst's, Mike Lioce's wisecracks as well timed as Carrot Top's. Yet this original Fab Three music video is innocent in a way no other later rock 'n' roll video could be, and much of the credit must go to the thousands of screaming teenage girls in the audience--the ones whose lips form such magical words as "Mike!" and "Sean!" and "Michelle!" while tears stream down their cheeks. When Mike Lioce and Sean Casey shake their pompadours in unison after the line "Alas, Babylon twist with me, little girl!" it sends the audience into hyperspace. Watching The Golden Kittens getting their first taste of audience frenzy, you understand why the '60s had to happen. check out "The Lance Gortar Show" here: www.youtube.com
