Asher Roth ft. Cee-Lo "Be By Myself" dir. John Christopher Pina

One thing is they spent all the energy on the effects but less on performance. It should be the other way around, since the artist should be the main focus. Ce lo showed up and did the motions and so did the artist. I like the video. Partizan seems to be on a roll with music videos. They're making a lot of them regardless of the state of industry being affected.
Fresh, great style piece. Not sure how great of a performer Asher is, which may be why they hid it with more FX.
the girl in yellow is cute i love her glasses, they look sweet on her
almost reminds me of a James Bond intro...it's like right on the edge of it. Just missing the transitions I think.
asher roth can't perform without a red solo cup in his hand.
duhhh
I was thinking James Bond video too.
I don't "get" Asher so maybe that is part of my issue here.
I thought, with that first single, he was doing the 'new Weird Al' thing. With his nasal vocals on this one he seems to be trying for 'new Eminem.' Are there kids who don't remember the original Em?
The video has a stylized quality I enjoyed, but the artist's wardrobe and performance seemed to be from another clip. Everything is cool, crisp and graphic - but then here comes the artist in his 'headed out to Coffee Bean' outfit and bopping, awkwardly around in vintage 'No Sleep Til Brooklyn' style. That seemed to put a flag on how all of the clip was polished but the artist was not.
30f, I'd say that, consciously or not, the video actually reflects how awkward the Roth/Cee-Lo pairing is to begin with. The video seems built for Cee-Lo's sexy, neo-soul chorus, but the moment Roth appears on screen it feels ridiculous. This guy belongs in the sort of pop-culture pastiche videos that made Em seem larger than life- in this video, Roth's star status is actually slightly diminished. He looks like a grateful guest stumbling onto a much bigger artist's video set.
