Kinda getting tired of these meandering ghetto-chic videos. Feel weird about it, knowing that the kids were probably styled. Funny how the band pops in at the end as a complete afterthought, then, see ya guys!-right back to the director's tribute to coming of age indie films of the late 90s.
I see what you're saying about the meandering ghetto-chic becoming its own sub-genre but I liked it. :)
It kinda blew my mind. So simple and yet (or perhaps because of that simplicity) so honest. Plus, I thought the band cameo worked perfectly.
The lighting was so clean and open - nothing new, per se, but awesome to watch nonetheless.
The ending is rich too - the feeling that there'll be some sort of confrontation between the 'gang' of boys and the young hero, only to realize they're all of the same mind.
Ha! Quite cool. Blew my mind.

If Gummo was made in 1977 as apposed to 1997 people would be more inclined to accept the "reference".
exactly, Sharpiesharpertonstein. I'm even okay with 12 years being enough time to go with calling it an homage. Crying "rip-off!" is just so catty and unnecessary when the reference is so deliberate.
I’m with kalstark on this one. I like it. Its pretty obvious that the video is inspired by gummo. I like gummo and I like this video. The kid is amazing. The ending surprised me.
