School of Seven Bells - "My Cabal" (Dir: David Mullet)
What happens when you take the first 10 seconds of The Sweater Song and expand it to three minutes without any of the charm or emphasis on performance. Notice how Jonze only flips the camera upside down once?
^^^ Ha Not to hate but that's kinda spot on.
hey i shot there. that's that tiny green screen studio on 19th in Santa Monica.
this video was actually shot in London while the band was touring over there.
Made me a little queasy, but other than that, there are some really cool techniques at work there. Care to elaborate, Mr Mullet, if you're out there?
A full 360 was shot and they just tracked all over it?
I thought this was awesome. Felt effortless and cool.
And let's be honest, the Sweater Song video was awesome because 1) it was Weezer in their prime, and 2) it was one of the greatest songs of the alt-rock era. Any type of imagery would have looked cool next to a song that good. Jonze's video was nice, but the song makes it look more genius than it actually is (let's call it the "Time To Pretend" syndrome).
