brilliant.
^^^^ You should really get out from under that rock from time to time.
This is the 4th video in the last 4 months to use that technique.
new rule: no one can use a technique that someone else has used.
If you wanna "borrow" someone else's ideas and not add anything to it then by all means go ahead.
just don't call it "brilliant"
you and smithcorey both have subjective opinions. yours happens to be negative/pointless, and your argument is pretty flimsy. i imagine that you probably have bigger fish to fry, and videos to make that use entirely new techniques. can't wait to see em!
Don't get your panties in a bunch when biters get called out.
I make plenty of positive comments around here on things I think deserve merit. This is not one of them.
there's quite a few variables within 'data moshing' itself, not to mention the massive array of possibilities contained with the unlimited amount of existing source video that you could work with. There's also the element of filming something specifically with data moshing in mind, which makes the process even more open to interesting new possibilities. i see it as a just another way of connecting pieces of video together. from my perspective ulykke seems like something new. i haven't seen a video that looks like it, although there are definitely plenty of datamoshing videos. www.youtube.com this one stands out to me as the best one by far. but there's other nice ones, all of them with their own way of implementing that effect.
So.. this video has been posted twice. First time around it recieved criticism for being a pointless rip-off, something which you censored by deleting that whole thread. Reposting it a few days later, you insult the first person leaving a critical comment - and you top that off by reviewing your own video in third person "as the best one by far"? Class.
i was talking about the video that i linked to. i probably should have just embedded it. so i'll do that here:
i didn't delete the original post. i noticed it was gone for some reason, so i re-posted it. macguffin's comments inspired me to learn more about datamoshing, so i actually read a few articles, one of which is by the guy who seems to have been one of the pioneers. www.davidoreilly.com i agree with what he's saying for sure. however, using the effect was a reaction to the music. having only seen a couple 'datamoshing' videos, and really interested in the potential of that effect, it seemed like the right look for that song. i still think it is.
and i just found this:
Futures - Zero 7 feat. José González | 3:58 min | d 2006 from 2minds on Vimeo.
which looks amazing to me.
moshing extensively dissected here&here.
