I'd likely credit the grader rather than the DP, since it's good grading. Pretty much the first half is all grading, second half all lighting.
Not much of a video, helluba DP showreel. Is that the reason why the DP website is highlighted?
ditto alanedit
I think that's a bit harsh; the camerawork and framing is really nice throughout and the DP and director did a good job. The diving shot was especially magnificent.
@ Alanedit. Too be honest I'm not sure what grading means as I'm not in the biz.I assume it has to with the tonal correcting & overall consistency of the final cut. I would like to know as there is often comment about this in discussion here.
The DP was highlighted because that was the only other resource I could readily find & just liked the other stuff on his reel. Also, I don't speak French. :)
I'm not jumping into landmines, an antville favorite but I do stand by what I said. Yes it's a little harsh. It's also tongue and cheek. I think it's splendid camerawork but the shots don't hold that power compared to this
As for grading, alexdecampi you are correct in your assumption. It is, in my opinion, the tonality of the grading (also) that lends the mood to the piece. Now, the prior vid is a showcase of exemplary cinematography and video direction. Married at once. That's what a good video should be. Unfair comparison, but illustrates the point.
Thx for clarifying alex. I'll take a look at link.
