^beyonce wore gareth pugh for the first time in 'diva', she must have seen his runway show and asked for it as a treatment. adria petty did a bad job capturing the reference. this might as well be a film school thesis, in which case it get's an F for plagiarism and lack of focus. the begining is an entirely different video, wheres the sense of lensing... composition... got to 1:07 of the gareth pugh runway show for a chuckle:

         

adria petty landed the job because she's tom petty's daughter. simple. i mean, just look at her other work...

i usually don rant like this, but i had the displeasure of working for her two years back. Her work aside (which sucks), she makes common practice of treating people pretty horribly. she also neglects paying designers, crew members and other workers after a job. Quite simply, the most disgusting person i've even encountered.

i know this might have little to do with the video, but i had to get it off my chest and give out a word of caution.

         

Someone succeeded in making Beyonce look cheap, no video was fine but the grading left a lot to be desired. Results lay on the director's choices.

As for the ^ above, every video is a fusion of the seen. It's the crutch of the internet generation and a reason music videos have been cross referenced so much over the past decade. Beyonce is someone who could start taking chances and hiring visionary (gulp) directors to do a video to break that...black and white against a white background mold.

Right?

Wong. She won't do that, because she's a commodity and plays it too safe. Bending the rules is exactly what the record business needs to curb the bullshit they've fed us for too long. Play outside the box a bit.

Madonna has done it. Bjork has done it. Beyonce has not. Another director would do. Vid ok, a lot more could be done.

About those backgrounds...were done by an amateur. I can see the presets set up without much thought or imagination. This is Beyonce folks, step up the game I can't believe she let that pass...

And lament it's what an issue is, quality control in the post.

Don't you think if someone gave you a Beyonce video you would do your best to do better or is it aiming high a thing of the past?

If you don't like my opinion...don't read it. But don't be a jerk. Negative energy is counter productive, man.

         

you obviously dont direct videos, and you obviously are jealous of pettys work... instead of putting your energy into something productive you invest all of your time into blogging about your personal issues... get over yourself.. this is an incredible video and shoot and might i add that if you want to back up your demeaning comments with some evidence then shoot a video and submit it... we would ALL love to see what you have to offer since you are so quick to point out other peoples flaws.

Imitation is the mother of invention. I think the parts of the video that were "cloned" from Gareth Pugh were probably the highlights of the video. Having Beyonce wear your creations on her music videos must be a boost in sales for Pugh, so why are you calling this plagiarism. I'm sure they had full disclosure. Other then hippy inspired "Work it out" and "Single Ladies" Beyonce videos are pop and unoriginal. I don't know if you people work in the post-industry-world. But let me tell you that Music Videos are the least payed projects on any aspect you look at it. And a coveted artist like Beyonce can get away with paying even less. Most creatives would jump on board so they can promote themselves and so they can use it as bait for paying work. like commercials or features. Take a better look at Petty's chronology before you start hating. She got the Beyonce job because after wrapping up Duffy and Anjulie's Boom videos anyone could see she had originality and potential.

I have never met Adria, and if i had the chance i would meet her dad over her. C'mon Tom Petty's Breakdown has been on my playlist for over 10 years, and no matter what she does she'll always be over shadowed by her fathers achievements. But at least, give her some well deserved credit. And if you are going to flame or internet-nerd-hate someone. Do your research properly. Unless you can prove here that Pugh had no idea of his creating being re-packaged in a music video. Then you SIR/MISS need to STFU.
