Fat Joe - Hey Joe (dir. by Gabriel Hart)
Upteenth 99 problems descendant but I like it. It looks good, represents Fat Joe's hood well, and reminds me a lot of 99 problems.
Problem is every hood video afterwards 99 has had a very tall mountain to climb, as the template for ghetto iconography established by Romanek is definitive. Waiting for someone else to take it a step further into another direction. There's a shitload of inspiration out there...
Now, I got into a doing a Raekwon video which I was set to color grade and when I saw the footage I went away. Someone shot it in HVX and Redrocks and forgot to pull focus. Result? everything out of focus. I did the color correcting anyway (a job is a job) but jesus I hope it never sees the light of day here. I'll be crucified by BUDGET.
so basically you were a part of a project that you wish will never see the light of day. your life sounds so exciting. tell us more.
It's very exciting. I love to work. So that project didn't work out very well but you do what is best and let it fly. So what do you do when you get footage for Post less than desireable? they expect you to work miracles. Your only judge is your own limitations. You could let the other take over (and take your money) or you could commit yourself and make it as good as it can be (and get paid). I like the latter. Work is work if you can get it. If you're in a position to turn shit down because you think you're too "precious" then good for you, that's for people with options or for the people that spend their frustration at Antville being ultra critical of others who are making videos. I don't give a fk about that option and prefer being constructive even when you wanna bitch about work you do and work you don't do simply because it's hard enough making it. We all love music videos but that is not what is seen here many times over at Antville. Just speaking for self.
Mantra:
Being cynical is fashionable Being constructive is trendy.
Like I said before I love to work. Don't you? if you can get it great.
If you can't, join the battle to get some. It's not easy.
they shot quite a lot and worked a lot on this one, you can tell the grade is nice, but not excellent overall i like it, but it makes me think how much better wouldve looked shot on gritty 16mil, like the wire
Alan, I'm preparing a shot by shot critique of your Raekwon color job. I seriously can't wait.
@ Budget: sure.
