Jamie Cullum 'I'm All Over It' - directed by EMMA
Pulse Films is working with Jamie Cullum on all aspects of content for the launch of his new album, The Pursuit, including the music video for ‘I’m All Over It Now’, the first single from the album. The music video was directed by EMMA, a.k.a. Ian Bonhote, who has previously directed commercials for brands including Nike and Walmart and music videos for artists such as Tom Jones and Freemasons.
The video is in the style of a Wes Anderson movie. The characters’ styling, casting and props are of his style and three of the characters resemble Luke Wilson, Ben Stiller and Gwyneth Paltrow as their characters in The Royal Tenenbaums. The heroes are typical Wes Anderson anti-heroes; people with fear as well as charm. The video is also shot in the director’s style, with photographic portrait shots.
The video follows a young man and women separately waking up in a luxury hotel suite. They are surrounded by a random assortment of people, such as elderly ballroom dancers, who are all frozen in different positions. No one is moving apart from Jamie, who is dressed as the hotel bellboy. However, when the chorus kicks in – played by Jamie, now in a suit at the piano - everyone starts to move in jerky, doll-like movements. Finally, the man and woman find each other – seemingly the only normal people in a very strange situation. The result is a funny, surreal video in which every character catches the eye.
