Hawnay Troof 'Body Armageddon' Dir Antuong Nguyen for MOOPJAW
Hawnay Troof - Body Armageddon (Dir. Antuong Nguyen for MOOP JAW) from Moop Jaw on Vimeo.
Amazing song and video. Beautifully shot, weird and inventive. Cutting edge stuff!
'Beautifully shot, weird and inventive. Cutting edge stuff'? Kind of the opposite of all those things in my book. Throwing some confetti on the artist and getting his friend to pretend to beat him up is hardly inventive and far from cutting edge.
Speeding up and layering the beats for "Hollaback Girl" and "Drop it like is Hot" isn't very inventive or cutting edge either so I guess the video fits the music
I've really enjoyed MOOP JAW & feel like he's crafted his own niche. The clips are consistently fresh, varied, & well executed. Also, fairly prolific. At least they keep coming back for more.;) I sense a voice is evolving.
Moopjaw is actually a production company representing four different directors. So what voice? Varied maybe as explained above. Fresh? Explain how exactly? Prolific maybe but thats probably because as I said there are actually four seperate directors represented by MoopJaw and from what I have seen the ideas are less than innovative or interesting and are hardly difficult to execute. The quantity over quality theory perhaps?
From what I have seen of MoopJaw's work it reminds me of everything i despise about the new crop of music video directors and blog musicians. Cheap, nasty, without taste or ideas and taylored to the lowest common denominator. It's almost like these people are trying to build an empire of crap and calling it a style or 'voice'.
Not cool.
i don't like to hate, but i agree with collie. have not been impressed by the work coming out of moopjaw. step it up. challenge yourselves, or else, what's the point? i can't imagine anyone's making a profit out of these videos.
