BRILLIANT!!!
I wanted to hate this because it feels like it's trying so hard to be viral, but I can't hate it. DAMMIT. Lots of fun and oddly addictive, plus really fits the song well.
Can't hate on this Song sucks but video is dope
ace
i hope oliver laric did this:
First 5 seconds reaction: 'Ah-ha, the Chyron people called, they want their 90s effects back'
But... but. It's so nice. The pretty colors. They really put some mind to what elements to use that made the 'simple' effect be eye-pleasing. It's fun. Everybody will hate it two months from now when it's played to death in every feed and a hundred tv ads pay 'homage' to it, but for now, it's nice. Or maybe it's the turducken talking.
Great stuff. A simple effect played to maximum effect, props.
Director is Tim Nackashi.
From his website: "The original idea was to create a video in which every frame remains on the screen, building and building. Needless to say, the band ran with the idea. The video was shot in one take -- primarily using sticks and tape."
It's an overuse of the pixel bender effect, an effect you can't hang a whole video on. What would be really impressed is if it's used to tell some sorta story, or enhance the performance. I gather this would be a cliche in the months to come, and yet it's a video well done. Gunshots for shitty song, but that's just me.
Really grows on you. Very reminiscent of earlier this year's Chairlift - Evident Utensil, but with focus on one aspect of the effect. And real thought put to what should be done to get the coolest shots. I have a feeling we'll see both come "year's best" noms at the end of the year.
soooooo pretty
I thought of Laric's thing too. Still, clever. It's striking how they make this a physical performance thing , closer to their previous vids than Evident Utensil or some such.
amazing how OK GO is more famous for the videos than for the music... - thumbs up for this one.
