Daaaamn!
Now that's rebounding from shitty Videos. T + A & Drugs = want to watch now!
b&w & video don't mix well
are you talking `bout this mv or mv's in general?
this looks dire,
American Gangster and Nez have done this infinitely better
i assume you're kidding Alanedit? this looks pathetic.
The point is that it's the inverse of what Nez is doing, the outfit Kano was wearing took away his ghetto pass right away. I'm not the only one who only likes the cinematography but I also think the above video didn't cost anything. So what do you do? check: get naked girls (hot girls = audience) some drugs (a million extra views) and assemble a montage to get you to watch. So on that merit it's better than trying something lit by Kinos and passed through label commisioners ect. Raekwon did some bad videos for a good album (I edited one myself) but video above is a good idea.
I like the ghetto feel of it, it's grittier than what polished cinematography is able to achieve. If it's well lit (in a Colonel Blimp way) naked women / drugs it takes the power away. This is a low budget video I approve. Wanna see the rest. Do some grade on the b + w and it's Ok for the internet.
er, ok then.
this doesn't look gully enough. it just looks poorly lit & shot. turning it into b & w won't make your video more cinematic either, no matter what other - hopefully very few - people still think. as long as its shot on video with a couple of kinos , why bother with slo mo and b & w? why not keep it video-y all the way? lo res & interlaced and what not? but no, they want to up their street cred AND to look glossy, hence the slo mo and b & w. keep it simple, kids, but keep it real :D
^ Hahaha Legion you're right. It's a truly catch 22 scenario: Lo fi all the way or Arri Kit on a shitty camera? some people get it right, some don't.
There are directors who do no budget rap videos who disregard the tech stuff and just shoot. Hey whatever gets the video done right?
