Canon question
hi antville.
has anyone used or even seen footage from the 500d or the 550d? how does it compare to that from a 5d or a 7d? just asking cos they are well cheap!
It's the same sensor and look as the 7d. Primary difference is the build, it's made of plastic and not weatherproofed. A good cheap option for a bcam if you are shooting with a 5d or 7d.

500d is sharper and the colours are murkier, id say its better if u plan to shoot something grittier/ more realistic or, like he said, good option for a bcam. beware the fps, though; 500d shoots full hd at 20 fps (should avoid fast moving subjects in the shot, coz theyll look jerky), but 1280x720 at 30 fps

Canon Rebel T2i looking good.. vimeo.com
the t2i and the 550d are the same thing the 500d is different and shittier
Yeah not disputing that. If I was on the market for a new camera today, I'll go with the rebel/550d. Same results video wise. Better yet, get two, shoot stereoscopic.

to sum it all up, 500d <550d (t2i in america) ≤ 5d < 7d
