Ok, here's the thing: since Gaga raised the bar so incredibly high, putting highly processed profanity (middle fingers are old) to increase your web plays ensures that your audience well, writes about it. But the bottom line is, will it sell your record? what's next, animal sex? I gather what big budget artist videos will be like a year from now.

People are divided in two groups: the savvy and the incredibly stupid, somewhere between the two this video will appeal or not. The gay community will dig it, blog it, tastemaker it, and sales will be fine on the first week.

what's funny is that Bad Romance was a REALLY good pop song. Catchy hook. The video was great but if the song sucked no one would have cared.

What the fuck is this Christina Aguilera song? It's terrible. The swearing feels so forced. She should be copying Gaga's melodies; not her videos.

Then again, I didn't really like the Telephone song either.

         

And know what would remedy the situation? if the audience turns their backs on shitty songs like these. The middle finger reversed. People don't seem to get tired and that's what keeps this pop stuff in business. It would be great if it's enjoyable, yet it's instead forced.

So what if those kids don't buy it?

It would make artists like her go back to the drawing board and consider her considerable vocal charms is what made her a star to begin with. That's faint praise, music like this is in the toilet. Gaga's got good songs at least.

it seems like the sort of video Christina would have put out regardless of Gaga. She's been doing suggestive Madonna-esque videos her whole career.

Seems odd to slag off the song too. Hasn't she been making dance-inspired pop music since day one? If you don't like it, it's probably cause you don't like the entire genre.

I'm in the weird position of defending this thing. The song is awful, I think we can all agree. And the video doesn't have an original bone in its body. But to make a star look this sexy does take a certain amount of skill. Sure, it's not as "avant garde" as the stuff that Gaga has been putting out (which for the record, I think is much more cynical and forced than this video), but as a bit of classic SEX appeal, this works.
