Washington State Lotto Ad - (Dir. Patrick Daughters)
Featuring music from Grizzly Bear (I know it's not a music video)
nice i especially like it at 0:54-0:55
pretty cool spot, some clever tricks in there.
feels like a lot of ads he has shot are part of a single campaign though. This^, Zune, Clarks... all with a young protagonist exploring several highly bizarre/visual worlds connected through seriously clever transitions... touch of choreography etc
love it! now make it into a music video.
i think the choreography of transitions and effects is really nice, but the music choice is weird. i like grizzly bear but here it doesn't match the dynamic visuals at all. Also, biggest problem is the casting/acting. The close-up smiles feel a bit too procter&gamble.
still a cool spot but coulda been great...
The dance scene is too long. It's a commercial, and the music didn't fit hipsters don't play the lotto. Common people do. Had it been cast using regular people that would be effective.
Nice commercial but dunno if it promotes what it's selling well, a gripe of Music Vid Directors making the transition to adverts.
That reminds me......... "I took her to a supermarket, I don't know why but I had to start it somewhere, so it started there. I said pretend you've got no money, she just laughed and said, "Oh you're so funny." I said "yeah?" ;)
it's not a director's job to focus group the effectiveness of an ad. It's the director's job to bring to life the concept by an agency. If they weren't happy with this, they wouldn't release it.
Really dug the ad, really dug the song; though I don't think think they're a perfect fit.
