Big Boi - Shutterbugg (dir. Chris Robinson)
Love it. One of the best videos of the year so far.
dope
Really? so are all these ideas supposed to work with each other or as separate elements? glow dancers with head removal?
That Jay Z Video was a fusion of elements, this is not. It's ok but not good.
S'funny victus.... that Jay Z clip was the frst to come to mind when I saw this too... interesting to see how hip hop video will open up now (or not)
I personally liked how random it was, I think this may have been the intention. The look also reminded me of that Chilli Peppers clip.... whatsaname...?
This joint?
Gotta be this one.
a lot of the stuff is really random, but i think it goes together well... it's big boi, does he need a reason to be random?
Yeah victus, that's the one. Not as similar as i remembered tho. Not trying to call anyone out here, just interesting to see how hip hop vid is developing.
The Jonze/Kanye joint, Jay Zs 'Next One' etc. Seems like a little seam of interest is opening up in this genre.... might be a good year for hip hop vid?
There's always been interesting hiphop videos, outkast, snoop dog with the dog faces, lots of snoop dog videos back in the 90s were actually pretty out there.. the giant shoe one, most of hype's videos in the 90's were pretty 'experimental', missy elliot, ludacris walking upside down on the side walk, wu and the killer bees with dinosaurs, spike jones pharcyde video, etc......
..busta rhymes
It's been a good year for hip hop videos.
"a little seam of interest is opening up in this genre"
So much wrong with this, I don't even know where to start.
victus, no offense, but you sound like you only heard of hip hop recently
Hey.... I hold my hands up, that was badly put. I'm well aware of my hip hop history, particularly in video. Just mean there's been a few memorable ones recently is all.... and it bodes well.
It's ok. I guess I'm just sensitive to language that seems to imply that hip hop videos as a whole are lacking. It seems like every time a hip hop video gets some good comments on this site, the post is immediately inundated with suggestions that hip hop videos in general might be headed in a more "positive" direction. It's mind boggling to me.
^ there goes legion with his contrarian self, welcome. It's been a good year for hip hop videos, does that have anything to do with your assumption of whether I listen to hip hop or not? and where do you get that from? Romania?
And back to the post. A sense of randomness is a hip hop video hallmark, but if the techniques of fusion and perhaps unity are used it makes for a better work I believe. The Jay Z video had an underlying theme that ties it all together, this is fun stuff but not my cup of tea.
It's Big Boi, co signing the notion that he can do whatever he wants and it'll be cool. He gets a lifetime pass off Outkast.
victus, how can you be that undeniably stupid. its only may, and you self-sufficiently conclude that its been a good year for hip hop videos. i think you only started listening to hip hop recently and youre not even sure what its all about.
but id say its your young age that goes to your brain and keeps you from thinking right.
fyi, Legion is KRS-One.
Legion, that's your opinion. You don't even know me. In fact, I bought my first Public Enemy Vinyl where you were likely still in a war torn country, earning your asshole points.
Are you some kinda source that pertains you declare? in fact that's your prerogative.
Flamer, hater, everything put together. I talk about music videos, you certainly put more emphasis in being an asshole.
whoop whoop dats da sound of da police
Semi interesting but kind of too random for no reason for my liking. It's almost like I can't tell whether the effects etc are meant to look b-grade or not. Could go either way.
