And so nice to be back on 16mm again - so much lighter, quicker and immediate. Plus it adds a vibrant texture you can't get otherwise.
Possessed by the shittiest grade known in existence. There is like, no trace of the 16mm and it looks like 5D. Get back and regrade it. Looks like no care was put into it.
Props to Wendy Morgan's crew - I've seen the lead guy & girl from the Gnarles Barkley "Going On" vid pop up a few times now. Or is there a small casting pool in Jamaica?
Victus, what are you talking about? The grade is fine, they actually had the balls to give it some texture and go against the grain a little. Definitely looks like s16 to me.
Co-sign victus. The blacks are so overly crunched that it's true, the burnt look gives it a 5D quality.
can i get a vignette? anything? this looks like a flat pass.
I'm talking about the images not having latitude, the dynamic range of 16mm being absent due to incompetent grading. This I fault more because it's a professional music video, if you indeed know anything about color grading it's apparent that the bulk of it is poorly done.
To clarify @Spencefilms, it may be a matter of opinion. Shitty grade to me may be good grade to you, somewhere in the middle there's an overexposed area that cringes everytime I see it.
