Singer Karolina, Song Smile 2 Me, Director/Editor Kutiman
Kutiman's flirtation with the art world continues. Less than two months after presenting a mash up video piece at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Kutiman has been selected to display the prominent Israeli singer Karolina’s “Smile 2 Me” video at Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. Kutiman filmed and edited the video which has nearly 50,000 YouTube hits.
Hammer Museum is one of the most prestigious contemporary art museums in Los Angeles. The event that will feature Kutiman’s work, Flux Screening Series, presents short films and video clips selected from outstanding works from around the world. Previous events presented filmmakers such as: Michel Gondry, James Frost (clips for Coldplay, Radiohead, Norah Jones and others), Edward Slayer (Massive Attack, Air). The event will take place this Wednesday, Dec 15th at 8:00PM
“Smile 2 Me” is Karolina’s current single from her recent album "What Shall I Do Now?" which has been a top seller since its release. The clip was made with a pocket camera and shot in over 150 locations around the city of Tel Aviv. Kutiman then painstakingly edited the video frame by frame in his bedroom studio.
