SMOKE AND MIRRORS by shanghai, directed by Florian Baron
Statement by the director: 'A couple of years ago, I did some experiments with video feedback and mirrors, but never thought much of it. I recently came across those tapes lying around and thought it would actually be fun to combine it with some music. I found the song 'Smoke and Mirrors' because I was searching unsigned artists on Myspace for music I could use and I really liked the connection between the theme of the song and my visuals. I posted the video on my vimeo account and a couple weeks later, it had spread through facebook and the band had seen it. They wrote me that they really liked the style of the visuals and one thing let to another... Next thing I knew we were shooting a music video in Berlin, using my old feedback technique and introducing the band and some new elements to it. The result is this video.'
