Raphael Saadiq "GOOD MAN" dir. Isaiah Seret
Good all around storytelling...
good casting and acting, saadiq always great, but its overlit which was distracting, and the story's a bit confusing. My best attempt at understanding the story: She's a hooker, he's a hustler. She's mad at him for being a small time crook which makes it so she has to turn tricks (?). She's so mad that she knocks her head against the sink to make it look like he beats her. But he loves her so much, that when he gets out of the hole, he goes to the renaissance hotel she works at and has to wear airline hostess clothes at, and gives her a bunch of cash. This makes her cry.
I like Seret's vids and I liked this too. Sure, it was a little confusing, but it's great to see something nicely made in amongst all the youtube gash that's populating the site at the moment; I'd have missed it if it wasn't for the comments.
Good video. Excellent craft. Story is better than the artist deserves, which I credit the director.
Raphael Saadiq has been making artsy videos which is commendable. But as an artist I think his music is refined but the videos don't match. It's a weird conundrum, in my opinion. Soul has limitations.
he was too good for this shit, man www.youtube.com
Classy work Isaiah!
