Cut Copy - Need You Now (dir. Keith Schofield)

Not my favorite.
My favorite!
Great!
What happened to the Kris Moyes video? Was it for this song also?
Needs more pancake astronauts and skateboards on burgers. ;)
meh
Moyes: "Take Me Over"
wow v disappointing. win some lose some i guess
I'm starting to hate slow motion.
there's been a long trend of slow motion videos that go nowhere.
@kayser sauce so where is the Moyes 'Take Me Over' video? That song came out last year.
great video. the hockey player hitting the soccer ball with a tennis racket cracks me up.
WOW, fucking hilarious. Classic glamour photography composite techniques and sports. Classic Schofield humour.
As for the Kris Moyes video... It's been a LONG time since Modular announced that was being made... I would assume it's well and truly been canned... (awkward silence)
Upon second viewing it's kinda fun. But would the video get this many responses if Keith's name wasn't attached? I doubt it. I think having a couple of other acts would have hold my interest a lot better, like shooting on actual sports location, tennis players playing football in a hockey arena, basketball players playing rugby on tennis court.. I don't know.. really push it.. but hey, no budgets, right?
is this for sports illustrated?
this video is terrible guys......
@Pancho I doubt it too.
I wanted to like it but i'm just not feeling it, guys. Even if it is "classic schofield"

i can honestly say i have never seen this aesthetic in a music video before. It's like seeing an alternate universe where pop culture is built around a context I'm completely unfamiliar with. That said, I'm not sure it works.
I really give up commenting on this website. Who are you people?
I'm trying to understand what exactly is bad about this video. I've got no answers. Therefore, I don't understand what you guys bitch about.
Oh I got it, you guys bitch about everything, even about what's good.
Well Keith has a lot to live up to. That's all. It's not a bad video, it's just not mind boggling amazing top class. It's average.
@ pancho and that's perfectly fine, on it's own terms.
Since when has it been ok to be a victim of one's success? the guy does something fresh everytime. It's a leg up on 99% of the videos released today, so maybe he's just on a class of his own. It bothers some who judge it based on what he's done previously. Pancho. I guess it's all too serious, this is fun video.
I agree. But if I hadn't seen Schofield's name attached to it I wouldn't have bothered commenting, just like most commentators here.
@victus - maybe it goes the other way too? like, giving a director more credit because you like their past work?
Just found Take Me Over storyboard and stills on Moyes' site! Storyboard and Stills
Very Australian. Looks like it could have been quite a cool clip.
@ budget given the credit cause the work is good. It doesn't matter who made it. It stands on it's own. Because some of us are in the industry we tend to judge based on personal taste, and it's usually not the merits of the work being created.
It's subjective, you're right too.
But Keith Schofield does good work, I've gotta defend that simply because I like the work. Naysayers are everywhere, a byproduct of being successful. Me thinks. The Chromeo video was great, and didn't get as much recognition as it should have. So what's the definition of being great? it's all subjective.
Now I can't defend Hype Williams in his current reincarnation. That's indefensible. That mutherfucker (both) ripped Enter The Void, shamelessly.
Maybe not keith's best but definitely something new and fun. It works and is also far more interesting than a lot of videos posted here.
@agwa - I've seen the Kris Moyes 'Take Me Over' video and there is a very simple reason why it wasn't released, basically it was terrible. It would have made the band as well as Kris look bad. However as discussed with Schofields work above, a director can't always make a good video. If a director makes 4 good videos and then 1 bad video does that make them a failure? I don't think so.
Thanks for reminding me why I stopped coming to Antville.
This video is a lot of fun. It's wacky, it's funny, it's even artful. I'd go so far as to say, I think it's a REALLY GREAT VIDEO. If this was made by some no name kid in Kansas, you all would be short circuiting your keyboards with fanboy jizz.
I guess it says a lot for your opinion of Keith that you think anything that's not a smash hit is a disaster, but it's also generally shitty and mean.
Seriously. What's the point in logging onto a website just to say "not my favorite"? If something's not your favorite, why go out of your way to comment on it?
You might as well add the tagline "By the way, I'm also an insecure, insensitive douche nozzle."
Kevathens, Simonster, and Brigs, you guys need to choke on a bag of dicks.
id rather have a bag o that than like this video
hey josh, i think the point of logging onto a website to say "not my favourite" is the same of logging to say "you guys need to choke on a bag of dicks". freedom of speech. keep up the good work. peace
@ my name is legion - That's funny.
I am impartial to Keith's work. He seems like an impressionable technique-based director. Like a magician, but with only one act.
@ Roseo - Since you've seen the clip, can you please explain to us what was so terrible about "Take Me Over"? Unless the storyboards and stills are inaccurate, it gives me the impression it couldn't have been worse than most of the content that finds it's way to Antville.
Equipped with all your subjectivity, perhaps you can elaborate on your statement so that we may understand you better.
You know what guys? winchandpulley said it best.
@ agwa name another director who has cultivated his own voice and wears his references on his sleeve without transparency? without claiming that it's references are his.
I'm just saying.
Maybe they don't have to choke on em, but they definitely should try a hearty bag of dicks. I heard trolls really love eating dicks. At least that's what happens in my bootleg, handwritten copy of Harry Potter.
@agwa on the other hand you seem to be taking the 'Take Me Over' video subject quite personally ;)
You're last statement on Keith's work in light of Kris's work almost seems competitive.
To answer your question, no the video is probably not worse than 90% of the content on this site, but that still doesn't make it worthy of release. Everyone involved in the project (except for Moyes himself) decided that the video should not be released. This type of decision is not made lightly, video budgets and a directors hard work is not thrown away these days without a very good reason, but you know maybe the band, the management and the record label are all wrong and 'based on the storyboards and stills' you are right.
i find it shocking that low budget videos would get canned nowadays. i can understand when its a big pop artist and the label don't find her pretty or something, but an artsy indie video?
If anything do another video for the same song à la Kanye, but don't just trash it. its a huge offence to anyone who worked on it for free or cheap + gives the band and label the reputation of being assholes.
