Lil Wayne - 6 Foot 7 Foot Dir. Hype Williams
The only link I could find has the Diversehiphop url.
Aw, this could have been so much more, although it looks like Hype actually turned up this time, well for a bit.
what's up with all the inception ref's?
Better version? www.youtube.com
inception and this
Yep. Hype was going for that Sam Brown/classy look but failed miserably.
Did they really have a shot of lasagna when weezy said "lasagna?"
Wow, I can't believe how bad this is.
If ANY popular rap song called for a video with an actual sense of humor, it was this. Shit, Dave Meyers would have done a better job than this. I thought the whole Inception thing was going to mean something in the end, but all we got was the same shot of him getting dunked in a bathtub over and over, lasagna and bad green screen shots of girls wandering around. And what was with the softcore porn-grade scene at the beginning? How'd they get Rock Harders to do a cameo as Joseph Gordon-Levitt? That license-free Hans Zimmer music is hysterical.
I think Hype is a real life Benjamin Button - his videos have started to look and feel like the stuff I shot back in high school. And the issue of "lower budgets" comes into play, but his grammar (how things cut together, the coverage, the very IDEAS) has regressed to sub-film school status.
In the end, I'm sure it's that he just doesn't care anymore. He's got a standard of living to maintain, so he'll keep churning these out and the actual production budgets will suffer before he takes a huge cut in his fees.
'I think Hype is a real life Benjamin Button' nice one haha
A proper Youtube without the DiverseHipHop burned into it:

"Hype was going for that Sam Brown/classy look but failed miserably."
Which is funny because Sam used Hype's production designer....
Hype William's début album was pretty bad I think. Probably he was going for that David Lynch/electronica sound but failed miserably. He'd better do more rappy/hip-hopish thing, more like Kanye.
It's a mess. The ideas are random, so none stick.
Still better than that Enter the Void garbage. A video that's quickly forgotten. I do think Hype doesn't care anymore. Because the work shows. Whoever does his edit / motion graphics makes it look cheap.
It's not a knock.
