not a music video, but an ad dat sells shoes
Gavras is tops!
Great edit, great photography, just great.
Thanks for posting Lusk.
Meh, it's like a more meth-ed up version of every single other sports commercial out there. Swap out the justice track and trade some famous faces and this is any Nike commercial between 2000 and now. Some nice angles, good edit and music, but it feels like it's been done before.
gavras justice adidas
random, all over the place, no coherence. nima's felt more together.
Incredible edit.
Give that editor a biscuit.
Boring... couldn't care less about the edit.
^ someone has an even shorter attention span than I have
Alot of this looked like footage from one of those NFL films specials. Might as well have been stock footage. Still, nice edit.
No big suprise, Romain finds the most violent aspects of every sport to fetishize.
This spot premiers a new track by Justice, the first we've heard in years. As such, it has had much advance press on music sites. Also, we get snippets of a DJ gig, apparently by Busy P (Ed Banger label head).
Surprisingly lackluster considering it's massive scope and budget (presumably).
The song, edit and video are solid...yet it's just not very memorable or cohesively stylized. Should be better. I bet a shorter cut would be stronger. Less filler shots.
You guys are crazy. This is awesome.
But it doesn't surprise me. Antville, the place for the unemployed.
I agree with victus, this is great

Uh yeah - this shit is rad. How could anybody have a beef with this? Sure I feel like Nike has done it before, but hey, it's still well done.
Rodriguez > Gavras Kanye > Katy Willis > Beckham Deal with it.
yeah, it's weird to me that the obviously superior Kobe/Rodriguez spot was dismissed with two comments, while this stock footage video burns up the internet. Does a Justice track really garner that much good will? You can practically feel the collective weight of the internet trying to force this to be better out of sheer force of will.
I can understand that this spot maybe the result of a tired formula, but you have to give credit where credits due. Its very well done. Probably the best of the recent Adidas series.
budget, the rodriguez spot obviously superior? why?
in terms of brand positioning this does much more for adidas than that black mamba crap does for nike.
the adidas spot may not be 100% original but it will live on, as it makes the stars in it, a part of the brand. it's with them when they work, party, fight, cry, laugh, loose, win, fuck up, play god, etc. it's part of who they are as artists, athletes and regular persons.
the rodriguez's spot is funny in a grindhouse kind of way, but leaves me thinking all nike's saying is: "look at us! we have kanye and kobe and willis and we paid rodriguez to blow some stuff up… buy our shoes, i don't ya!"
anyways… NOT A MUSIC VIDEO!
Nilsson doing sports.
i dont like the digital look the track sounds like romanian folk and i cant believe someone found it interesting to use
Aesthetics aside, but the track of choice was awesome. A perfect marriage in this case. You gotta be trippin' legion! Each to their own I guess.
"Another real shameless compilation of sport clichés, this time with a cliché techno gentrified "rebel" music that tries to trick you by breaking your hears so you don't realise it's just another commercial trying to sell you stuff you don't need made by kids in India. Gavras is such a rebel again. john 2011-03-18 13:53:11"
