Thalys by Daniel Wolfe
no whining pls. its by a promo director and its a musical. interesting to see wolfe do sth like this. ultimately though, think it shoulda/coulda been a lot better. feels v safe
The thing some of us understand is that commercials have their own set of guidelines which to follow. Safety is one of them. Brand awareness is one of them. Interesting work comes out of them. When the planets align. Indeed the same is said for videos.
Putting a commercial in a video site invites a video minded mentality, not the spot commercial one. Separate the entities.
I like what it does and promotes it well. That's my take on the commercial.

gosh alanedit. easy on the asshole preachy tone. we all know its hard to make good work.
the spot's not bad. does feel a bit like a missed opportunity though. mostly the music is not great, and the rhythm is a bit weird.
nice grade/art direction/wardrobe

Enjoy. That takes hard work.
very Demy. Stella recently shifted their brand from old-world european nostalgia to 60's French nolstagia so this entire sub-genre has been getting a bit played out. This is one of my favorites. Also of course we should be able to discuss good commercial work by music video directors. That's where everyone will be trying to work in 5 years anyways.
Also the main dudes suit jacket does not fit at all.
alanedit. good point..
nicky goose did a great commercial for dish network. i hope he gets to do more tv spots, it's fuckin hilarious.
most music video directors don't make very good tv adverts in general, the only cool one in recent memory besides nicky's is that one with the girl in the gas station and the flying around underwater thing, can't remember who did it but i think it was for the washington state lottery or something.
gondry's ads? glazer's ads? dom&nic's ads? dougal's ads?
You're thinking of a Patrick Daughters spot. And trust me there's a lot more than that to be excited about.
