Bad Meets Evil - "Lighters" (Dir. Rich Lee)
Rich Lee's music videos look so ready to be played next to Pepsi and Will Rogers Institute commercials, it's like they're produced by Regal Cinemas for the "First Look" reel they play before the trailers.
I actually joked last month, when they shot this, that it would open with a corny handheld shot of Bruno Mars at an upright piano in a decrepit space. Hilarious.
Why the hate? Looks fine. It's an eminem video featuring bruno mars. Probably should start with Bruno at an upright piano, right?
I liked it. Too much Em, not enough Bruno. Also, he does not photograph well in what looks like a 28 or 17 lens. Maybe it's the aspect ratio.
I like this more than that Kahn video. But I wanted Das Efx to show up in the sewer.
Btw someone seen Tree of Life...watch Hype do it.
Not hating hard, but I'm going to point out when a video for an otherwise exciting artist comes out completely boring and on-the-nose. And I've never liked La Bamba, so it's a bummer to see him on a song with Em, in the first place.
Do you see what I'm saying about the way Rich Lee's video feel, though? I know he's Francis Lawrence's protege, but at least he had some actual interesting visuals to go with his clean, professional coverage.
ckyrico, this is unlistenable/unwatchable. it feels like you're making a fuss because you really wanted to do this video and lost out to rich lee.......
I've had rage-jelly over songs that I love with ho-hum videos before, but that isn't the case, here.
I never get to discuss the things I brought up in this thread with anybody, and I thought this would be the place to do it.
