It feels like this is what would’ve happened if everyone showed up to the set of Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” video way too stoned to pull off the fast-paced chase scenes and car stunts. Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s “Strangers Are Strange” has the same basic formula: guys in suits pursuing criminals, gratuitous mustache shots, etc. This awkward Sam Kristofski-directed version fits the weird bong-hits-in-the-basement vibe of the track. Will the spies prevail? Will the deal go through? What’s in the suitcases? It doesn’t really matter. At the end of the day, they’re all just gonna chill out by the pool and dance.
